The shelters are designed to offer maximum view and access while providing a shaded seating space. A single undulating curve creates the protective area of the shelter, touching the ground in three places to provide stable support in high wind. The form establishes coherence with the surrounding spaces by opening up in three different directions. While seated within the shelter, the view to the sea is unobstructed, as is the view along the promenade and toward the De La Warr Pavilion. While walking along the promenade the shelters are open and inviting by gently lifting its edges to show entry. The three points along the edge that touch the ground provide comfort within the shelter from wind, sand and rain as the seating areas are positioned in the lee of these points.

The exterior of the shelters will be a soft white while the interior will be a warm orange in colour. The colour will help create a comfortable, warm and inviting interior for blustery seaside days.
